Position Title: Certified Teacher

Certified teachers are individuals who hold and maintain a state certification for teaching grades K-8 and are responsible for planning, instructing, and evaluating a specific grade level of students.

Duties of a certified teacher

  • Plan  curriculum and instruction under the direction and guidance of the school administration.
  • Submit lesson plans (using Madalyn Hunter Template for lesson plans) by Friday at 5:00 p.m. through assigned Google Drive Folder.
  • Assess students on standards taught throughout the unit(at least 1 assessment grade per week for Reading, Writing, Math, Social Studies, and Science).
  •  Meet with data coach to review student data and plan reteach and enrichment activities based on standards.
  • Create and facilitate weekly classroom newsletters submitted to parents every Monday by 8:00 a.m..
  • Utilize appropriate language, interactions and positive discipline.
  • Model positive behavior and attitudes.
  • Administer and score appropriate screenings and assessments required by the school according to designated timelines.
  • Perform any other jobs assigned.
  • Write daily classroom learning objectives and list of activities on the whiteboard.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
  • Certified teaching certificate from a state board of education.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

Non-Certified Positions

Responsibilities

  • Transport students to and from school in the mornings and afternoons
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times
  • Obey all traffic laws
  • Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
  • Ensure safety of all students
  • Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required
  • Attend monthly safety meeting
  • Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint card

Job Goal

Contribute to effective school public relations by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors, and to perform clerical duties as requested

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate telephone equipment
  • Ability to type at an acceptable rate of speed with accuracy
  • Ability to work with students, parents, staff and general public
  • Knowledge of and adheres to all policies, regulations and rules

Core Job Functions

  • Greets all visitors and substitute teachers courteously, determines their needs, checks appointments and directs or escorts them to proper person
  • Answers all incoming telephone calls and responds appropriately to requests for information
  • Maintains files and records; updates principal’s budget and account balances
  • Processes a variety of forms, maintaining appropriate supplies
  • Performs clerical duties such as typing, sorting, distributing mail, counting and depositing money, filing and assisting with work overflow as requested
  • Orders inventories and distributes supplies
  • Performs related duties as requested
  • Performs all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed

Professional Expectations of a paraprofessional

  • Work closely with the school’s administration, Educational Coordinators and other content area specialists.
  • Participate in team meetings. Communicate and share ideas and concerns with team classroom teacher and administration.

  • Engage in continuing education and professional development activities such as trainings, workshops, and educational classes.
